These bikes are designed similar to mountain bikes
with a few added features to make riding more
comfortable. A wider, well padded saddle and
suspension seat post to absorb the shock of any
bumps you may encounter. Also an adjustable
handlebar stem allows you to sit as upright as
you want. This type of bike is equipped with multi
purpose tires and is made for light trail or road use.
Comfort grips, brake levers, pedals and frame
geometry also make these bikes as popular as
"rider friendly" as they are!

Hybrid bikes are essentially a cross between
a road bike and a mountain bike. They have
the same diameter wheel as a road bike, but
with a wider multi purpose tire. Handlebars,
frame style, and gearing are similar to that on
a mountain bike. These bikes have similar
features to comfort mountain bikes such as
a comfortable seat with suspension seat post,
and an adjustable stem. Hybrids are built to
be comfortable and to be ridden on the road
or light trails.

These bikes are built like motocross
bikes only without the motor! The reason
for this is that they are used for bombing down
hills at extreme speeds over and around rocks and
roots. Downhill bikes are designed to be very tough,
with front and rear suspension with lots of travel &
disc brakes built to stop you at high speeds,
you will have the equipment needed
to endure this adrenaline
boosting sport!

Mountain bikes are designed for off road
riding and come in many levels of quality
made for different terrain and rider skills.
Frames and components are built tough
in order to handle rocks, roots, logs, and
anything else that off road trails will throw
at you. Wide tires with a knobby tread
will allow you to go over all these obsticles
and will give you traction even in wet muddy
conditions. Mountain bikes are also fine
to ride on the road, and tires can be changed
to one that is more road oriented.

Since bicycles were invented, all sorts of accessories
have been developed to make cycling safer, more
comfortable, and more fun. The extras that people
would put on their bikes in the past were for function
more than fashion and were more of a necessity.
Now, not only are there far more accessories that you
can add to your bicycle, but there are choices of quality
and style to suit each cyclists needs. For example,
lights are available for the cyclist who is riding off road
trails at night, commuting to work, or simply taking a
quick ride to the store only a block away. Fenders for
off road, winter riding and ones that quickly disconnect
for those nice days. Even speedometers that will tell
you speed, distance, time and a lot more are a fun
accessory and an excellent training tool. These are just
a sample of the items we carry in stock at all times.

Most people who have been cyclists before having
children want to continue to ride. What better way
than to keep your child with you, and one of the best
ways to do that is to pull them in a trailer. When
purchasing a quality trailer, your child is extremely
safe, you will enjoy riding with the entire family, and
your child or children will have so much fun.
We carry Chariot trailers because they are excellent
quality, lightweight, safe, and extremely versatile.
Chariot carriers are made in Canada, and undergo
extensive safety testing. They also have a lifetime
frame warranty, as well as one year on fabric and
hitch. All of Chariots bike trailers are foldable, and
most models have kits available to convert them
into joggers, strollers and a lot more.
Many people ask the question:
Why do I need or want cycling clothing?
Well, the number one answer is comfort!
Shorts are shaped appropriately for cycling with padding to allow for those
longer rides. It's amazing how much longer you feel like riding in comfort!
Jerseys are made out of light weight moisture
wicking fabrics to keep you dry and have pockets along the lower back that are
accessible while riding.
There are many other clothing items that will make cycling more enjoyable and
allow you to ride in just about any weather.

The past few years have brought great changes
in helmet design and technology. Helmets are
now so light, well vented and extremely comfortable.
The quality and features that was available in the
past on only the high end helmets is now standard
on much more affordable models. With all this in
mind, there is really no reason not to wear a helmet.

WHAT IS A TRAINER?
A trainer is an excellent tool that you can add
to almost any bicycle for use indoors. It turns
your regular outdoor bicycle into an exercise
bike, but folds and can be stored conveniently
under a bed or in a closet.
WHO IS IT FOR?
There are different types of trainers for
cyclists with different needs. From the
recreational rider who wants to simply
keep fit over the winter to the racer who
wants to train hard for the season ahead,
there is a trainer suited to you.

One of the most important
things to remember while
cycling, as with any other
physical activity, is to keep
well hydrated. Your body
relies on water to keep it
going and with the proper
hydration, you will perform
better. A water bottle on
your bicycle frame will do
the job, but hydration
systems in the form of a
backpack (such a Camelbak)
makes even more sense.
Water is more easily
accessible and people
tend to drink more because
it is convenient. They
also keep the water cooler
and you can carry two or
three litres.

How often?
When a bicycle is being used regularly, it should be tuned up once a year minimum.
Of course everyone rides their bike to varying degrees and in different conditions,
therefore it is a good idea to have it inspected by our trained technicians.
What should I do to maintain my bicycle?
There are a few things you can do yourself at home between tune-ups. One of the most important
things is to keep your bike clean and drive train parts lubricated. Every so often depending on use, apply a light weight dry lube such as Teflon Plus by Finishline to the chain, freewheel and derailleur pivots. Another thing you can do yourself is to check the tire pressure. A floor pump with a pressure gauge is a handy thing to have since inner tubes do bleed air over a period of time. Riding with the proper tire pressure will decrease rolling resistance making it easier to pedal and also reduce the chances of getting a flat tire. The recommended pressure will be printed on the side of the tire. One more thing is to look and listen to anything that may not seem quite right. For example; gears are hesitating to change or making clicking sounds, or the brake pads are rubbing on the rim etc.
